April 1 - john cleaned out the pond in front and started the fountain. He is going to have to pump most of the water from the large 30,000 gallon pond, move the Koi into the small pond, and to have a septic tank truck remove the sludge from the big pond.

In the fall, leaves fall into the big pond and eventually become sludge in the bottom. The filter system cannot remove this much waste from the water and the pond slowly becomes too cloudy to see the Koi. john figures that if he does this every 3 - 4 years, the water will remain clear.
