July 1 - A lot of things happened in June that did not get reported. jerry and gail, john and joyce's best friends were driving to Colorado when they had a really bad accident on June 21st. They both are alive, but jerry is having trouble with a compression fracture of the 5th vertabrae in his back.

The accident occurred just west of Larnad Kansas. gail was driving when she went asleep with the cruise control on. jerry woke up when he no longer heard the tires against the highway. He woke gail up while they, their SUV and camper were still air-borne. The camper hit twice, once going airborne and again when it came down on the other side of a culvert. It was "totalled". Their SUV stayed upright, but may be "totalled" too because of internal frame damage. They were able to drive the SUV home at 50 miles an hour.

They are just now going through the shock of it all, and not only experiencing pain but depression too. john and joyce are telling them that they should be counting their blessings that they both are alive! With gas prices what they are, they would have probably had to give up driving to Colorado anyway, while pulling a camper and getting 15 mpg. They probably would have had to enjoy the mountains, streams, and woods in another way. This just make that change come a little faster.

john has been asked by the Senior Arts Council to display a reproduction of the "Bass Harbor Light" starting July 2nd at the Prairie Village Municipal Building, 77th & Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas. The reproduction is being made on canvas by Digital Labrador (www.digitallabrador.com). They do a great job, and the reproduction turns out looking better than the original. A great number of folks will get to see the exhibition when they are there for the July 4th celebration.

July 9 - "Bass Harbor Light" is on display in Prairie Village until the end of July. john is busy building a new website for www.tntguild.org .
