October 9 - Last week, john was having some repairs done to the chimney and roof. One of the workers came in and asked john if he knew he had a pet baby squirrel in his front yard. john was surprised and went out to look. There, sitting on the workers' feet, was a baby squirrel watching them (try to) work. john carefully reached down and petted the baby squirrel on his back ... and the baby did not run (or try to bite) john. Next thing john knew the baby squirrel was on john's shoe, then on his pant leg and then on his back. The squirrel was quite happy sitting up there. After a while, john realized that this little guy was probably going to get hurt with the trucks, feet, and traffic going by. john asked one of the workers for a pair of gloves, grabbed the squirrel and carried him to the back yard where his released him. john, right away, realized that trying to keep a squirrel anywhere was not possible. This last Sunday, john and joyce were across the street talking to a neighbor when the baby squirrel walked up and joined the conversation with a tiny acorn in his paws/mouth. He was quite happy. |
