john took a photo of the "Grand Hotel" on MacKinac Island in Michigan. He remembered seeing the movie with Christopher Reeve called "Somewhere In Time". The setting for this love story was at the Grand Hotel in 1912. Because of this, john has set his painting in 1912 also. Please notice the U.S. flags had 46 stars in 1912.
