This painting is based on a photograph john took of women doing their laundry in the ocean in St. Lucia in the Carribean. john snapped the photograph from a moving tour bus with a telephoto lense. He had about one second to get the photo. Luckily the photo turned out okay.

The people of St. Lucia are VERY poor. john has painted the house much nicer than the one in the photograph.
